Join South Hero Land Trust and your friends and neighbors for Green-UP Day on Saturday, May 2nd! An hour of your time will make a huge difference in cleaning up our community in time for spring and summer walking and biking. There are four ways that you can help.

1. Sign up for a street or section of street near your home or where you walk. Bags will be available at the South Hero Land Trust office. Please have filled bags ready for pick-up by noon on the 2nd.

2. Join the South Hero Recreation Commission for a group trail clean-up at Round Pond State Park. This will be a great chance to gather with other community members for a fun volunteer effort. This group will be picking up trash along the trail entrance, and cleaning winter debris from the trails. Bags and clippers will be provided, gloves and boots are recommended!

3. Join the Lake Champlain Land Trust for a Wild Parsnip Round Up! LCLT staff and volunteers will be digging up the invasive wild parsnip plants in the fields at Round Pond State Park- as part of our joint effort to minimize it’s impact on the native plant populations in the wetland.

4. Join South Hero Land Trust staff and board for a family clean-up of White’s Beach. This is a great change to introduce young children to Green-Up Day in a safe and fun environment.

Please call Minner or Emily at 372-3786, or email emily@shlt.org to sign up for any of these great ways to participate, and get all the details!

Afterwards join South Hero Land Trust for a celebratory BBQ at the Folsom School Playground from 11:00-12:30. Free burgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers will be served fresh off the grill to thank the dedicated Green-Up volunteers.

Many thanks to the Naud/Pendolino family and Marco diCarlo for their continuing generosity in sponsoring the annual BBQ! Many thanks to our generous donors: Island Homemade Ice Cream for ice cream, Canamak Farms for grass-fed beef, Wally’s Place for burger rolls! Thanks to the Eben and Jess from the Broken Arrow Café for doing the grilling!
