Stowe Electric Solar Facility: Selectboard Vote

Past event
Apr 27, 2015

Stowe Electric has proposed to construct a solar facility on the reclaimed portion of the Beech Hill Road gravel pit. The development of the array is now dependent upon Selectboard approval of the vote warning. If the warning is approved, then it will be up to the residents of Stowe to decide if they want to allow Stowe Electric to construct the facility.

The Electric Department wants to construct the facility for several reasons: limit penalty payments related to the new Vermont renewable requirements by $3 million over the 30 year life of the project (http://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2016/H.40), provide rate stabilization for 30 years with cheap and locally generated power (save $1.9 million over the life of the project), and generate $450-525 in revenue for the Town of Stowe in the form of lease payments for the use of the property.

So we ask that you please come to the Selectboard meeting this Monday at 5:30 to voice your feelings.

You can email me with any questions you may have, or give us a call at the office at 253-7215, or stop by and speak with us in person.
