Circus Smirkus Camp Work Party and Wish List

Past event

This event is not in Burlington... but I am. I'm Ted Kohn, Smirkus employee. My family and I reside here in the NNE. I realize traveling to Greensboro to pitch in for a Circus Smirkus Work Party Weekend is not a practical weekend activity for everyone, however, if you have anything you could possibly donate to the cause (see below), I am local and happy to swing by and pick it up. Not everyone realizes that Smirkus is a nonprofit – communicating as much is something I am working to improve. Our organization continues to exist thanks to the generosity of others. That said, any contribution you can offer goes a long way and is very much appreciated. Thanks and here are the details...

Circus Smirkus is opening our brand new and long-awaited, residential summer camp in Greensboro, VT this June!

On May 30-31 we are hosting a Work Party Weekend to put the finishing touches on our newly built dorms, and on making the 135 year old barn and farm house feel like circus-home! JOIN US to volunteer for a weekend full of fun and circus laughter as we ready our shiny new Smirkus Camp for the first group of campers. GO HERE TO SIGN UP http://smirkus.org/volunteer/

Plus, we have a clown-car sized Wish List of items that we need for the Work Party Weekend. You might have just what we’re looking for in your closet, backyard, or shed:

-- Yards of fabric for curtains
-- Interior latex paint
-- Chalkboard paint
-- gently used paintbrushes
-- dropcloths
-- rugs, roughly 4x8, 8x10 in good shape. Color? Surprise us!
-- Tools (electric screwdrivers & screwdrivers, hammers, drills) to donate or loan
-- Garden tools (shovels, rakes, hand spades, seeds, starters)
-- transplantable trees
-- perennials that you need to thin
-- picnic table
-- Adirondack chairs
-- brooms
-- mops (gently used)

To donate these items, and help bring the life-changing adventures of the circus arts to kids from all over the world, please contact camp@smirkus.org
