Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District's Annual Tree Sale in two convenient locations:
BERLIN: WNRCD: 617 Comstock Rd., Berlin (Heads up, Comstock is partially closed due to mud season - take Granger Road to get to Comstock!)
ESSEX JUNCTION: Department of Forests, Parks & Rec., 111 West Street, Essex Junction
David Wilcox and Matt Leonard, Vermont State Lands Foresters, will be at this year’s WNRCD’s Tree Sale to explain how soil, site, mature size, and spacing determine your choice of tree. They will demonstrate proper planting techniques for both bare root and containerized trees and explain how to mulch, stake, and maintain the trees you’ve chosen.
David Wilcox is a District Urban and Community Forester for the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. He works with Municipalities and Organizations to promote proper tree planting and maintenance. In 2014, he was awarded a Conservation Award by WNRCD for his dedication to forestry stewardship.
Matt Leonard, is a District Urban and Community Forester for the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation based out of Essex Junction. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont Forestry program and works in multiple program areas, including providing education and outreach to local communities and municipalities on topics related to urban and community forestry.
Free and open to the public. EMGs may count as ed or volunteer hours.
