Law enforcement in Vermont is a challenging endeavor.

The long tradition of owning firearms and hunting means the State has virtually no firearms regulations. Law enforcement personnel may face a life or death situation knowing help is at best ½ hour away.

Towns such as Woodstock have their own Police Departments, Sheriffs add their own specialized services. But the largest part of Vermont’s law enforcement coverage is provided by the Vermont State Police responsible for 90 percent of the State’s land mass, 50 percent of the population, and 200 towns.

Unique opportunity to discuss your concerns with the people in charge
