The Ludlow Area Community Garden will meet on Tuesday May 5th at 7:00 pm at the United Church of Ludlow to discuss and answer questions about how the garden will continue to work this year. Beginner and experienced gardeners are invited to attend and sign up. Plots are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
The garden is located at the Fletcher Farm on Route 103, at the border between Ludlow and Proctorsville. UVM Extension Master Gardeners are available to help both novice and experienced gardeners.
The all-organic garden has more than 50 plots. A wide variety of vegetables, flowers, herbs and small fruits are grown on individual or shared plots. Shared plots require less labor per person and any gardener can join for a nominal fee. Several plots are used by not-for-profit organizations.
The $15.00 per plot fee includes the use of many garden tools, water for irrigation, compost and other materials. Free seeds will be available at the meeting. The garden is open to everyone residing in Ludlow and neighboring towns. This year we plan to introduce raised beds and waist-high planters to make gardening easier for anyone on a wheelchair or having difficulty bending over or kneeling.
