Join the Wright House SASH team in a viewing of this powerful and timely film. Following the film we will have an open discussion led by SASH Wellness Nurse and Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing at UVM, Christina Melvin.
About Christina: Prof. Christina Melvin holds a master's degree in community/public health nursing. Throughout her ca-reer, her work has focused on vulnerable populations. Her area of clinical expertise is hospice and palliative care nursing. She teaches student nurses in end of life care and continually reinforces that death can indeed be both peaceful and dignified.
About the film: In 1994, Oregon became the first state to legalize physician-assisted suicide. How to Die in Oregon, filmmaker Peter Richardson gently enters the lives of the terminally ill as they consider whether – and when – to end their lives by lethal overdose. Richardson examines both sides of this complex, emotionally charged issue. What emerges is a life-affirming, staggeringly powerful portrait of what it means to die with dignity.
