Based on my school board experience and the tumultuous teacher/school negotiations in our community over the past five years -- which included a contract imposition, two threats of strike, and last fall's strike -- I sponsored an amendment to a bill this week to ban strikes and imposition. The amendment was defeated in a close 73-70 vote. The Judiciary Committee, on which I sit, is currently considering the bill that was passed out of the Senate to restrict gun ownership by violent felons and individuals who have been adjudged to be a danger to themselves or others.
