The Green Mountain Youth Symphony (GMYS), including several young musicians from Berlin, presents the Spring Concert on Saturday, April 11, 3:30pm, at the Barre Opera House.
The GMYS Repertory, Concert, and Senior Orchestras will all perform. The Concert Orchestra will also join forces with their sister group, the Harmonic Orchestra from the Upper Valley Music Center in Lebanon, NH.
The Repertory Orchestra, conducted by Paul Perley, opens the concert with a program that plays through all four seasons of the year. The combined Concert/Harmonic and Senior Orchestras, all under the baton of GMYS Artistic Director Robert Blais, will present a selection of movie and Broadway scores including Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Fiddler on the Roof and more. Also featured in the Senior Orchestra program is graduating senior, Ella Williams of Gaysville and Randolph. Williams will play Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor, op. 85.
Tickets are available at the door. Ticket prices: Adults $15, Seniors $12, Students (K-12) $5, Children under 5 are free.
