Please join us on April 16, Thursday, 5:30-7pm in the South Burlington Library Community Room to learn about the new gardening program, “Growing Connections.” This is an initiative of the South Burlington Sustainable Agriculture Committee. It is part of a new national trend called, “Yard Farming” - similar to the Victory Gardens during the Second World War, that fed a great many people. It matches up people who have unused garden space on their property with people who want to garden, but have no yard in which to do so. The Sus/Ag committee is creating a database of these “garden space owners” and “garden space stewards.” Gardeners and landowners will learn about the opportunities that each offers and then explore who they might like to connect with and what kind of connection works best for both parties.
If you don't have the time or don't enjoy gardening, but have yard space you are willing to share, or if you love gardening and really want those fresh vegetables, but have no garden space, “Growing Connections” may help you connect with the right people. Please join us on April 16. If you have any questions, contact Sophie Quest at quests600@gmail.com or 802-238-4927.
