Just two spots are left in the upcoming Hogback Community College course, FROM FOREST TO FRAME: INTRODUCTION TO TIMBER FRAMING. Taught by Lincoln’s own Will Wallace-Gusakov of Goosewing Timberworks and David Brynn of Vermont Family Forests, the course offers a hands-on introduction to timber framing, from timber selection in the forest, through felling, milling (via portable sawmill), hand-hewing, and joinery.
The three-day course, which begins May 16, will culminate on the summer solstice, when participants will raise the finished timber frame—a small pavilion that will support The Watershed Center’s outdoor education programs.
If you’re interested, register ASAP! For more information and registration forms for this and other HCC offerings, visit the Vermont Family Forests website, http://www.familyforests.org/public-education/events.shtml, or call 453-7728.
