Neighbors,
On Monday, March 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., the City Council will convene its last meeting this month. The first item on our agenda is the appointment of Neale Lunderville as the general manager at Burlington Electric Department. Mr. Lunderville has served as interim GM since July 1, 2014. Next we will consider requests from Queen City Brewery and South End Kitchen for indoor entertainment permits. The Council will then recess and adjourn as the Board of Tax Abatement to consider requests for abatement of property taxes by five taxpayers. The City Council will then reconvene to hold a public hearing on a proposed zoning amendment regarding garage size and orientation which is to correct a typographical error. Next, we will take up the items on our consent agenda before turning to the items on our deliberative agenda which include a first reading of three proposed zoning amendments: (i) to the inclusionary zoning exemption for institutional housing; (ii) to the downtown neighborhood mixed use & enterprise districts setbacks abutting a residential zone; and (iii) permitting a performing arts center in the enterprise zone. Next, we will consider a resolution accepting the summary paper issued by the retirement committee and approving the goals set for collective bargaining. The City Council will then consider a proposed charter change regarding the size of the police commission and another relating to the application for and receipt of non-battlefield weaponry from the Department of Defense. Finally, we will hear committee reports from Councilors and a report from the Mayor on general city affairs.
Public forum is scheduled for 7:30 where anyone is invited to speak on City affairs.
