Copley Hospital's Board Ethics Committee is pleased to host a discussion about hastening death. Guest speaker Dr. Robert Macauley, Medical Director of Clinic Ethics at UVMC will discuss:
* ethical issues related to requests for hastened death (such as VSED: Voluntary Stopping of
Eating and Drinking)
* federal and state laws dealing with refusal of treatment and requests for hastened death
* practical reponses to requests for hastened death
Those professionals who would benefit from this discussion include primary care providers, physician assistants, nurses, home health providers and behavioral counselors.
