Calling all area businesses! The Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce wants to spotlight YOU!

It’s an OUTSTANDING ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY! You can MAKE CONTACTS and GET MORE BUSINESS for only a modest investment!

We’re holding the annual “SPOTLIGHT ON BUSINESS” show on Saturday, April 11th from 9 to 3, at Poultney High School on East Main Street in Poultney.

This year’s theme is “HOME IMPROVEMENT”, which is broad enough to include any business, really. All area businesses are welcome to sign up and take advantage of the excellent advertising opportunity. What you do - can improve someone’s home life!

The event will be advertised in local newspapers and on the radio. Those who sign up by March 10th will have their names included in the final press releases before the event.

You may also contribute to the 100 “Goodie Bags” given out to people who attend the show. Anything with your name and contact information on it will be put directly into the hands of your potential customers. (Business cards, promotional items, discount coupons, mini-gifts, special invitations to visit or contact your business, free quotes, or whatever fits) This will put YOUR BUSINESS NAME in the hands of your potential customers.

You will have the opportunity to display and/or demonstrate what you do for a living, and make direct contact with the public. You may sign people up for your services, sell them items you bring along, and have the opportunity to convince them to contact you again. You may also set up your own drawings and giveaways at your table.

Lakes Region Radio will be there with a live remote broadcast and you will have an opportunity for a live radio interview.

Linda Atwood of At The Woods Photography will be taking pictures of businesses at the event. Those pictures will be available from the Chamber after the event on request.

All this for a cost of no more than 25.00!

Tables and chairs will be provided along with a small text sign with your business name on it. You need to bring a paper tablecloth or other table cover to cover the top, and something to display. Electricity and wi-fi will be available but you need to let us know.

You could set up a display board with pictures, video presentation, sign up sheet, bowl or basket to hold a giveaway, business cards, photos of you and your equipment, tools of your trade, items you’d like to sell, and anything else you can think of to get people’s attention. These are things for people to look at and talk with you about, really just a conversation starter - something to help you make the connection with the customer.
Food will be available from local restaurants and organizations who will be set up at the show. Each food vendor will set their own prices, but we are asking them to prepare small portions to allow people to sample several different types of food.

Here is what we are doing to attract the general public:

Newspaper advertising - Lakeside News and Rutland Sun, Manchester Newspapers (New York and Vermont), Rutland Herald, Mountain Times of Killington, Vermont News Guide, Hill Country, Observer, Sam’s Good News.

Everyone who sets up is expected to keep their display in place until 3 PM. Please make sure you make whatever arrangements you need to keep to this schedule. Pickup begins at 3 PM, and no sooner. When you do pick up, please check your immediate area and be sure everything is picked up; trash barrels will be provided.

Space is limited, and it’s first come, first served. So please sit down now, fill out your registration form, and send it back right away!
