Want to photography the Milky Way? Tired of overly dark night photos? This is the course for you!
This workshop will concentrate on night photography techniques. We’ll talk about planning for your shoot, equipment needs, techniques specific to night photography, and the post processing steps needed to enhance your photos. Discussion topics will include recognizing various types of light, light painting, creating star trails and time-lapse videos, how to capture meteors and starscapes, and moonlight photography. The workshop will meet three times – two indoor class sessions and one in-the-field session. The first session will cover planning your shoot, the equipment needed, and techniques specific to nighttime photography.
The first session will conclude with assignments for various types of night photography. The second session will meet in-the-field where we’ll create images based on the assignments. Due to the unpredictable nature of weather the outdoor session will have to be scheduled with minimal advance notice. If you are unable to attend the outdoor session you may complete the assignment on your own. The last session in the classroom will discuss post processing techniques to finish and enhance your nighttime photos. This will be a hands on session so you are welcome to bring your own laptop to work on your photos in class. Please join us to learn more about the exciting world of nighttime photography!
