The Hinesburg Planning Commission is bringing two experts to the Town Hall on Wednesday evening (March 11) at 7pm to share their thoughts on sustainable economic development. In addition to the presentations, there will be time for Q&A and conversation. Everyone is invited, and free desserts will be provided. - Bruce Seifer, author of "Sustainable Communities: Creating a Durable Economy"
- Bill Maclay, Maclay Architects and author of "The New Net Zero"
Bruce Seifer is best known locally for his work with the City of Burlington in their Community Economic Development Office (CEDO). Bruce led Burlington’s economic development efforts for three decades - marketing and assisting in the implementation of numerous economic policy initiatives and providing assistance to over 4,000 businesses and numerous non-profits. He is currently engaged in developing and speaking at forums designed to promote the implementation of sustainable economic development policies in other cities and towns across the nation. Bill Maclay is known here in Hinesburg as the architect for the Renewable NRG Systems facility. He is the founder and president of Maclay Architects located in Waitsfield. Bill and the firm have continuously been involved in research on all aspects of environmental design including sustainable design, indoor air quality, building science, material selection, and related issues.
