Would you like to have public transportation in the Calais, Woodbury, Worcester areas?
The Transportation sub committee of the Calais Energy Group is sponsoring a potluck on Thursday March 12th at Maple Corner Community Center ---eating starts at 6:30. There will be a representative from GMTA to explain the steps we need to take to get grant monies to subsidize a bus, and all other steps we need to complete over the next years to get some form of public transportation in Calais. All officials from our neighboring communities are also welcome. By pooling resources maybe we can get some mode of public transportation sooner than expected!
As I write this - living on the Route 14 corridor - every day we see cars going back and forth with only one driver. Just think, if there were public transportation along this route, the less wear and tear on the road, maybe a saving in one's own fuel bill, and the opportunity to share time with people OR read while someone else does the driving!
So if you'd like to learn how we can get public transportation here in the Calais region and would want to help move this along, please come! This committee welcomes you!
