Meeting - Derby PSAP Consolidation - Closing

Past event
Mar 11, 2015, 7 to 10 PM

Brian Greer of East Burke of Northeast Mutual Aid has agreed to hold a meeting Wednesday, 7 p. m., at the Lyndonville Fire Department to discuss the plans of Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn and Gov. Shumlin to close the Derby and Rutland PSAPs.

If you aren't aware of the issues regarding your local call answering and dispatch center in Derby, you should now begin to pay attention. Though we spend hundreds of dollars and hour and hours on town plans, emergency services plans, five year plans for budgets, capital improvements - etc... it means nothing when the legislature and Shumlin come to call with their hands out. Why is it we have some of the best economic growth the region has seen (Jay Peak, IP Maple, Newport Waterfront and Walmart, just to name a few) - we are on an international and NH border, and the most rural area in the state - and at this time Keith Flynn, and Gov. Shumlin - decide to cut costs by cutting our services? Could it be payback for this area not overhwelming supporting Shumlin at election time? Does Flynn have higher aspirations and is this part of a plan to advance both his and Shumlin's careers? There is so much conflicting information, so much NON-transparency, and so much failure to heed what the residents are saying.

Please turn out for this meeting and find out what the issues are and why people are upset about it. You can feel free to call me or email to discuss the issue. I am currently the E911 coordinator for the town of Brighton, and my husband is retired Derby station commander. We know the issues well. Please don't let the NEK be bullied and mugged by the Gov and his minions. It's happening on a regular basis, and it's time it's stopped.
