Whether it's climate change, the challenges of getting around for seniors, the hassles of getting teens into Montpelier, or the desire to drive less in nasty winter weather ... whatever YOUR reasons for wanting mass transit (hopefully at least one bus route) into Montpelier, we're all in this together. In fact, it's not just Calais, but also surrounding towns that have a vested interest in working together to make mass transit a reality.
That's what the potluck at the Maple Corner Community Center on Thursday March 12th is all about. Tawnya Kirsten, the community liaison for Green Mountain Transit Authority, will tell us what we need to do to get the very competitive grant money to subsidize a bus. She'll also talk about current GMTA programs we can be using now.
We'll also have a suggestion box, so everyone's ideas about ideal routes, park and ride locations, etc. can be collected.
The potluck starts at 6:30. Everyone is welcome!
