The week after Labor Day is typically extremely busy for all of us. It was, therefore, determined that it would be better to cancel our Ward 5 NPA monthly September 5 meeting and to proceed directly to our next meeting on October 3. Please save the date and consult the preliminary October agenda below. We will remind you about this meeting as it approaches.

At the October meeting we will present an open forum that provides community members the opportunity to air all of their concerns and comments, both positive and negative, about Champlain and UVM. We have invited the key college officials and members of the respective student governments. We hope to have an open and honest dialogue. We have found that in the past when the community participation in open dialogue like this generates greater cooperation and understanding and often helps alleviate situations that were previously unknown. Contact any of the Steering Committee members for any comments and questions that you might want to address even if you are not in attendance.

In addition, representatives of UVM and Champlain have been invited to explain activities and benefits on each campus that are open to the community; there will be a presentation by the Burlington Advisory Committee on Accessibility; the Office of Health Care Ombudsman, Planned Parenthood (as a navigator regarding the new health care exchange) and updates from our School Commissioners and City Councillors.
