Past event

An Evening of Lakota Music and Resistance

Wed. March 4th 6pm - 8:30 PM
At the Plainfield Opera House

Join us for an evening potluck of Lakota music and resistance with the Cante Tenza Okolakiciye or Strong Heart Warrior Society. Led by Canupa Gluha Mani, a veteran of the 1973 Wounded Knee Takeover on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, the warriors will discuss Indigenous resistance, Lakota sovereignty, and what it takes to live in freedom.

Bring a dish and potluck starts at 6pm.
The event is free. Donations to aid travel for the warriors are appreciated.

The Plainfield Opera House has an accessible gender-neutral bathroom on the first floor. At Opera House events, we ask that everyone coming do as much as they can to be fragrance free so that people who have chemical sensitivities and related illness can participate. We would love to be able to offer childcare upon request. Please let us know if you would like childcare for a particular event or if you are willing to offer childcare yourself. Regretfully the wheelchair lift is currently under-construction and we hope to have it fixed by this event- please be in touch if you need more information.
