This week's Osher (OLLI) program: "What Lies Beneath the Surface? Uncovering the story of two chairs from Holyroodhouse". Talented Ellen Blachly speaks on 18th century upholstering, which she finds fascinating. Many of the tools and materials will be on hand for touching, including reproduction 18th century textiles from the Marshfield School of Weaving. She will discuss the ethics of restoration vs. conservation. Queen Mary and Virgil are part of the story. Important note: this program will be at the Aldrich Library in Barre, on Wed., Feb. 25, at 1:30. Free to Osher members, $5.00 donation for others.
