Up to 5 million older Americans are abused every year, and the annual loss by victims of financial abuse is estimated to be at least $2.6 billion. Elder abuse is a silent problem that robs seniors of their dignity, security, and, in some cases, costs them their lives. Dr. David Ellenbrook, Professor of Sociology at Castleton State College and some of his students will be at the Castleton Community Center Wednesday February 25th to address the topics of "Elder Abuse, Neglect, Financial Exploitation" and the relationship of these issues to ageism. The program begins at 1:00. There will be a Question and Answer period following. A donation of $3 is requested for the program. Lunch is available at 12:00 if you reserve before 9:30 Tuesday. Suggested donation for lunch is $3.50 for Seniors. Non-seniors - $4.50. Call 468-3093.
