My name is Hayden Coon, and I am seeking election to the Williamstown Select Board this Town Meeting Day, Tuesday March 3.
I believe strongly that my working experiences, my education and my strong connection to the town make me the ideal candidate to best represent all of the constituents of our town. I have been a resident of Williamstown for more than 20 years and currently work as a middle school math teacher at Williamstown Middle High School. Over the past 4 years I have worked hard for our school as a teacher, soccer and basketball coach and in various after school groups.
I, Hayden Coon, graduated from Williamstown Middle High School in 2002. I then earned a Bachelors degree in Economics with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. I then completed at Master of Arts degree in Education from Johnson State College.
I am running to serve our town on the select board for several reasons. I have a strong interest in helping our community to grow while realizing the importance of keeping our tax rates low. I also believe strongly in the fact that if we want to achieve sustainable growth within our town, we need younger people to get involved in town government so that we can learn and put ourselves in the best position possible to serve and support our residents today and in the future.
Another important attribute I would provide to the select board is a stronger connection to our different town entities. We need to clarify policies and guidelines while also supporting our local businesses.
