On Saturday, February 21 at 7:00PM, the Craftsbury Public Library will offer a sneak preview of a new documentary film on Senegalese women.

Mme. Seynabou Dial, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Senegal, will deliver opening remarks on Senegal and on the role of women in Senegal. The 35-minute film entitled *Senegalese Women: A Challenge to Strife* represents Senegalese women’s role in promoting peace and prosperity in the country despite chaotic, rampant terrorism in neighboring countries such as Mali, Nigeria, and Libya.Dial said, “I am honored to be invited. I hope that, through this film, people will recognize women’s role in promoting women’s welfare and peace in my country. Also I hope that people will understand that all Islam and all Africa are NOT terroristic.” The film documents the peaceful aspects of Islam and the example Senegal sets in countering extremist Islamic movements. That is in part due to the powerful voice of women opposing violence and seeking to elevate their status as full participants in the national economy. “It is good timing to show this film, since all over the world so many people fear Islam without differentiation. Dominated by the Sufi and Murid schools, Islam in Senegal definitely calls for peace,” said Dial. This film is produced by Santis Productions, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Ed Nef Foundation.
