The Essex Planning Commission will have a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, in the conference room at the Town Offices, 81 Main Street. The agenda includes the following items:
1. Public comments
2. Work session on the 2016 Town Plan. The Town Plan presents a vision for the future of Essex. Vermont law requires plans to be updated every five years, and the Planning Commission is working on the update for 2016. On Thursday the PC will review rough drafts of Chapter 2, Sense of Community, and Chapter 4, Serving the Community. These chapters are a consolidation the current Town Plan chapters 3 (Economic Development), 4 (Education), 5 (Housing), 6 (Community Services and Facilities), 7 (Parks and Recreation), 8 (Transportation), and 12 (Government and Finance). The chapters still need updated statistics, the addition of charts and graphs, and a further refining of the language in the plan. For Thursday’s meeting, Community Development staff has asked the PC to focus discussion on two questions: Is any important content missing? Is anything included that can be left out? More information about the Town Plan is available online at http://www.essex.org/index.asp?SEC=0F129ED0-599B-44D2-9943-F4143DC1699C&Type=B_BASIC
