Resolution on Siting of Renewable Energy Projects Before Selectboard

On January 23 the Selectboard will consider a resolution to increase the input of Vermont municipalities in the siting of renewable energy projects. Currently the developer picks a site and neighbors, communities, and local zoning and planning boards have almost no impact on the Public Service Board approval process. The resolution instructs legislators to amend siting statutes so that municipalities have a more meaningful role in placement and that appropriately developed municipal siting standards be honored. If you don’t want to find 14-acres of industrial solar in your side yard, like the installation on Hinesburg Road, encourage our Selectboard to adopt this resolution.
