Wards 1 & 8 Neighborhood Planning Assembly Meeting Feb. 11

Past event
Feb 11, 2015, 6:30 PM

Neighbors - please plan to attend this month's NPA meeting on Wednesday this week. Myself along with the other school board candidates and city council candidates will answer questions and listen to your ideas. Howard Smith, our Interim Superintendent, is a very direct speaker and I think you will all appreciate his candor and willingness to face the tough questions.

Each month Richard Hillyard, Anna Brena, and Sam Ghazey conduct our NPA meeting. If I may pilfer from the Burlington NPA website -> "Neighborhood Planning Assemblies (NPAs) are grassroots, neighborhood organizations that were established in each of Burlington's eight Wards to encourage citizen participation in City government. Working as neighborhood advocacy groups, Neighborhood Planning Assemblies help improve communication between the citizens of Burlington and City government through regular meetings scheduled in each Ward.

NPAs serve as organized, democratic forums where neighbors can learn about public issues that affect them, and advise the City of their concerns and needs. From stop signs to major development projects, the NPAs offer you an innovative way to get involved in neighborhood and City issues and make your opinions heard."

This month, on Wednesday, February 11th, the meeting will be conducted in the McLure Lobby Conference Room at UVM Medical Center. For those of you that remember the old emergency room entrance simply enter there and turn right. The conference room is on your right. The meeting starts at 6:30pm. There is free parking in the parking garage near the Colchester Avenue entrance.

On the agenda this month -

~ Possible development of Fletcher Place/Colchester Ave properties

~ Candidates Forums for City Council, Ward 1, Ward 8, East District.

I hope to see you all there - Mark
