Are you thrifty, creative, concerned about the amount of junk accumulating on the planet, or just looking for some practical skills? Join the Swap Sisters for a new event all about reducing waste. The Waste Less Bonanza! will focus on how to waste less by fixing, maintaining, reusing, and repurposing things in four main categories: tools and household items, food, clothing, and trash (paper, cans, bottles, plastic bags). We'll have demonstrations ongoing in each category. Learn how to fix your socks, pants, or tool handles. Find creative ways to use left overs, old calendars and plastic bags. We also want the event to be jam packed with inspiration and ideas from all who attend. Participants are asked to bring in any examples of things they have reused and repurposed. Think "junk" art, a tool with an unconventional handle, planters made from old containers, plastic bottle bird feeders, mittens made out of old sweaters...you name it. If it's not practical to physically bring something in, bring your ideas and we'll have a way to share those too. Small prizes will be awarded for the people's choice of best exhibits and ideas. We'll also have some repurposing projects for kids to participate in.
The Waste Less Bonanza is on March 1, from 2-4pm at the Green Mountain Technical Center Forestry Building in Hardwick (entrance is on the left traveling up main street beyond Hazen Union High School). For more information email swapsisters@gmail.com or call 755-6336.
Hope to see you there!
