Pictures & Info on Costa Rica Trip

Past event

Hello neighbors,

Last winter, Susan, Amelia, and I went to Costa Rica for two weeks. Our focus was on exploring beautiful natural places and learning about Costa Rican culture. We had an amazing trip, and since then, quite a few people have asked about the places we went, where we stayed, etc. In response to these requests, we're organizing a presentation/discussion at our house for anyone who is thinking about a trip to Costa Rica (or who is just interested in the country and its natural/cultural history).

The presentation/discussion will be very informal. We'll have printed copies of our itinerary with notes on what we saw, contact info, etc.

We'll also show a few pictures and share ideas about what we enjoyed and what we would do differently if we were to go again.

It'll be on Sunday, February 15 at 4 PM at 129 Caroline Street. If you think you'll be there, please email me so I have a rough head count. (Feel free to decide at the last minute and just show up, though!)

Here are the places we visited, so you know what we'll be talking about: Alajuela: old city in central valley, cathedral/plaza, street life, etc.

Osa Peninsula: Corcovado National Park -- hiking in old growth rainforest; Golfo Dulce -- kayaking in bioluminescent waters Cerro de la Muerte: high mountains in Cordillera Central -- cloud forest, giant mossy oaks, quetzals, 12,000 foot peaks, incredible views across much of the country Guanacaste Province: dry western part of Costa Rica -- volcano with fumaroles and bubbling mudpots, dry tropical forest hiking, huge old haciendas, natural hot springs, time in Liberia (regional capital of 50,000, very interesting culture) Nicoya Peninsula: beautiful beach in relaxing village of Samara

Please come!
