Three Design Concepts are available for comment until February 12, 2015 The Underwood Property is a 60-acre parcel of land located on the corner of Spear Street and Nowland Farm Road that the City of South Burlington purchased with Open Space Funds in 2013. The City-Council appointed Underwood Task Force and a consultant team began meeting last November to determine how to best use this land around the themes of agriculture, recreation, and natural resource conservation. The design conversations were framed around a desire for the development to be low-key, low-intensity, natural, sustainable, ecologically sensitive, multi-generational, innovative, and showcase unique features.
On January 29th, a public design workshop was held and three design concepts and the key features of each were presented. Each of the three designs leaned more heavily towards a greater percentage of the land being used for agriculture, recreation, or natural resource conservation.
The design concepts are available to be viewed on the City’s main website, www.sburl.com, and in City Hall at 575 Dorset Street, South Burlington, VT. The public is asked to provide comments by February 12, 2015.
