Gen. Sullivan Talk on Climate Change Impact & National Security

Norwich University will host General Gordon R. Sullivan to campus on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Plumley Armory, to speak on the “National Security Implications of Climate Change.”

GEN Sullivan will address how climate change is a
- threat to U.S. national security.
- acts as a threat multiplier for instability in volatile regions of the world.
- will exacerbate tensions even in stable regions.
Climate change, with national security, and energy dependence are a related set of global challenges.
The talk will be based on two studies, published by the CNA Corporation: “National Security and the Threat of Climate Change, 2007” and “National Security and the Accelerating Risks of Climate Change, 2014”.

GEN Sullivan was Chairman of the Military Advisory Board, CNA 2007, and a member of the Board, CNA 2014.
GEN Sullivan’s talk will combine aspects of security, science, engineering, diplomacy and political science in addition to other academic disciplines.
