Embracing Life's Third Act: a Day-Long Retreat in a Circle of Trust

Past event
Mar 7, 2015

Aging with grace, purpose, and integrity offers both challenges and opportunities for those of us transitioning into—or already “inside”—the Third Act of our lives. We invite you to join us in exploring those challenges and opportunities within a safe space created by a Circle of Trust on Saturday, March 7th, 2015.

Circles of Trust are associated with the work of Parker Palmer, an author and teacher whose recent books include A Hidden Wholeness and Healing the Heart of Democracy.

Through the use of group norms that help create a safe space, active listening, silence, reflective journaling, and opening ourselves up to the beauty of nature, we’ll share our stories and harvest some of the wisdom embedded within our life experiences. The day will include an opportunity to participate in a Clearness Committee, a discernment process from the Quaker tradition.

Cost for the retreat is $125, which includes lunch. Our setting is the campus of Vermont College in Montpelier, and our day will run from 8:30 to 5:30. The maximum size of our group will be 25, and the retreat is designed to elicit your full and active participation throughout the day.

We—David Leo-Nyquist and Jim Varn—are Courage & Renewal facilitators prepared by Parker Palmer and the staff of the Center for Courage & Renewal in Seattle.

For more information and/or to register for the retreat, please contact David at dleonyquist@gmail.com or (802) 233-5565.
