The next Board meeting is Wednesday February 11th, 7pm at the Fish Hatchery. Here is a synopsis of recent GICWD activities, but please see the February 10th edition of the Islander for further details!

Construction on the Granular Activated Carbon filtration system pushes on despite cold temps and a bit of snow and ice. The driveway may be icy and treacherous, but the sumps are complete, the building is up, the two large garage doors are in place, the insulating is complete and the inside is almost done. We anticipate that the GAC project will be complete and online before the summer residents and tourists return for another fun-filled vacation in the Islands.

The State of Vermont has required GICWD to install a constant chlorine analyzer and flow meter near the Bell Hill tank and this project is basically complete now.

January 29th the State of Vermont visited the water plant to perform a Sanitary Survey which is done every three years to assure the state that we remain in compliance with their regulations and are worthy of our permit to operate the plant. The final written wrap-up has not been received yet from the state, but verbally we were told she saw no major infractions and was pleased with the cleanliness and general operation of our plant.

The Board of Commissioners is in the process of updating our Usage Ordinance. The suggested updates will be presented at the February meeting for Board approval.
