“HOW TO GROW VEGETABLES FOR SEED SAVING” a garden talk with CHARLIE NARDOZZI on February 20, 2015, 6:30pm, Sponsored by the Jericho Town Library, held at the Jericho Community Center.
Seed saving is a way to conserve and promote America’s culturally diverse but endangered garden and food crop heritage for future generations. If you’d like to learn about the process of collecting, growing, and sharing heirloom seeds and plants, you can attend a free workshop presented by horticulturalist Charlie Nardozzi on how to grow vegetables for seed saving. Nardozzi is a nationally recognized garden writer, speaker, radio, and television personality. The workshop will take place at the Jericho Community Center at 329 Browns Trace Road, Jericho, VT 05465 on Friday, February 20, from 6:30pm-8pm. The event is sponsored by the Jericho Town Library in connection with “Let’s Grow Jericho!” Seed Library Launch event.
Nardozzi will explore seed saving techniques for annual food crops like peas, beans, tomatoes, herbs, garlic, and peppers. Attendees will learn practical basics about self-pollinating crops, insect and wind pollination and the problems with cucurbits. He will discuss vegetable varieties that grow well in our micro-climates, and how your family favorites may become the resilient building blocks for future varieties.
“We are delighted to have Charlie share his expertise in the area of seed saving,” said Colleen Korniak, Director of Jericho Town Library. “In this era of corporate agriculture it’s vitally important to conserve and promote America’s culturally diverse but endangered garden and food crop heritage for future generations.”

In celebration of the new Seed Library, Jericho Town Library is hosting a week long event “Let’s Grow Jericho!” featuring garden workshops, seed swaps, and seed library orientations.
