The Identity Abacus: Frame, Circle and Loop:: Saturday, January 31, 2015: Montpelier UU (Children’s Chapel), 3-5 p.m.:
The Identity Abacus is a three dimensional metaphor for unified self-awareness as well as an instrument for measuring in a holistic way a range of facets integral to an individual's sense of identity. It allows for diverse, non-polarized, and fluid perceptions of identity, and can chart changes within the whole over a life span. The frame charts given identities, the circle measures social-relational identities, and the loop maps chosen identities. A good tool for avoiding stereotyping and stigmatizing. Participants will explore how this instrument might apply to their own lives. (Donation optional.)
