To celebrate Waterbury Winterfest, the Waterbury Public Library will have special evening hours on Thursday, February 5 from 6 - 8 PM for Winter Words Acrostic Poetry and Art! Drop in from the cold and try your hand at acrostic poetry. Acrostics are a fun poetic form that anyone can write! Choose a winter word - such as snow, ice, ski slide, or even winter - and use it as a basis of an acrostic. We will also have a variety of art materials on hand to illustrate your poem. Recommended for ages 8 through adult.
Here's an example using the word "Winter":
White flakes dance
In the cold
Night air. Softly, silently
They cover
Everything, making
Round humps of logs and fence posts.
See how easy it is? Come on over and join the fun next Thursday night!
