Warren Spinner has been the City Arborist for the Burlington Department of Parks, Recreation and Waterfront for since 1981. When it comes to Burlington's trees, Warren has seen it all. He will share his insights about our city forest then and now at the Branch Out Burlington! annual winter seminar on Sunday, February 15 at 4:00 pm at Room 102 at the Aiken Center on the University of Vermont campus. He will show archive photos of Burlington's tree-lined streets before and after the Dutch elm disease decimated over 10,000 American elms. He will explain his strategy for protecting and enhancing Burlington's urban forest to ensure it remains healthy and in fact thrives, despite the ever changing and challenging environment in which it exists.

Branch Out Burlington! is a group of volunteers who help plant and care for the trees of Burlington. Our goal is to promote a vision of a city graced by a variety of beautiful and healthy trees, and a citizenry actively involved with the perpetual expansion and preservation of our urban forest.
