The public is invited to meet Burt Porter as he illustrates, with lively fiddling, characteristics and factors that have shaped New England Fiddle music as well as explains and demonstrates jigs, hornpipes, and clogs. He will also examine a comparison of the relationship between Yankee fiddling and New England fife-and-drum and classical violin music. All this history aside, the outstanding fiddling will certainly be worth your visit!
The Lunenburg Historical Society is pleased to host “New England Fiddle Music: History and Characteristics”, a presentation sponsored by The Vermont Humanities Council through its Speakers Bureau, at the Lunenburg Primary School. Light refreshments served. The school is located at 49 Bobbin Mill Road, off Route 2 in the center of town and is accessible. FMI Chris @ 802-892-6654
