Hope many of you can join us for Adams Farm Turkey dinner this Saturday, benefiting continued restoration of the Brick Meeting House.
20 years ago this winter, the building was essentially a vacant church. 20 years ago, a group of 25 – 30 of us first met, and we, as a community, started to change that. Now, 20 years later, we have something to celebrate!
The initial vision was two-fold, a home base for the various town organizations with no previous home, and a public space on the common, for town gatherings, in fun, in serious discourse, for intellectual and physical activity, and …now and then of sorrow and support. Always, in some manner or form a celebration of community.
Today a few groups have dropped back or have become less active, while some, like the Seniors and the Historical Society, have flourished in more recent use of the “Red Brick” as their home. Meanwhile the Recreation Committee (not that old) has developed into the primary user of the building with the variety of activity most of us are so familiar with.
We’d like to start this year with this community supper, to share at this evening, old photos & drawings of the history and the initial project , and plans for continued work. All in the spirit of celebration of what’s accomplished, and spread the excitement of what is possible ahead. Looking forward to Saturday.
