The couple performs their tales together, voices intertwining and overlapping in a kind of narrative counterpoint, a compelling alloy of technique and soul. Harp and concertina weave music into the tale-spinning. Humor, suspense, pathos and exhilaration all come into play, with elements of chataqua, lyceum, and vaudeville. “The old stories are ageless,” they say. “You listen, time changes, and you become agless too.”
Tim and Leanne have performed in major venues across North America, including appearances at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough TN, Hudson Clearwater Revival Festival, Old Songs and the Toronto Storytelling Festival, Their favorite audiences continue to be the ones that have shaped them over the last thirty years of profesional performance, in first nights, community spaces, colleges, festivals and libraries of northern New England.
The couple wins national awards, and has received international notice. The online magazine folkworld.eu concluded “If you have ever wondered whether storytelling can be absolutely fascinating, give this duo a try. They are brilliant!”
Tim and Leanne are married. They live in Montpelier, with a feisty little dog and a big marmalade cat.
