Craftsbury Energy Committee Public Info Mtg. on Heat Pumps / AC Units

Looking for ways to save on heating and cooling costs and be more comfortable?

On Wed., 1/21, @ 7:00 PM, at the Craftsbury Library, the Craftsbury Energy Committee will be hosting an informational meeting on electric heat pumps.

Electric heat pumps take heat energy from one source; outside air, ground water, etc. and transfer it to where it is needed to heat a home or domestic hot water.

For most homes heat pumps for heating a home do not replace the need for a main heating system, since they are not effective below 18 below zero. But, depending upon your application, heat pumps are three to six times more efficient than an ordinary electric element and more cost effective for heating than fuel oil or propane and can pay for themselves in a short time period of time.

The home heating heat pumps also combine as an air conditioner in the summer, reversing their process. They do this more efficiently than a standard air conditioner.

The concept is not new, your refrigerator is essentially a heat pump, taking heat from the inside of your refrigerator and transferring it to the outside of the refrigerator. The home heating heat pumps are a larger version and much more efficient.

ARC Mechanical, out of Bradford and Littleton, will be presenting the information on heat pumps. They are HVAC designers and installers and have designed and installed all forms of heat pumps. They are also Efficiency Vermont-certified installers, allowing customers to take advantage of a $300 per unit incentive currently available for heat pumps through Efficiency Vermont.

We hope to see you at the informational meeting!
