Jeanne Brink, author of a book about the “language of basket-making” and co-author of an Abenaki language guide will talk about the world of today’s Abenaki. Herself an Abenaki whose heritage has been traced back to the early 1700’s, she will talk about preserving Abenaki culture, traditions, and language in a rapidly changing world. A master basketmaker, she continues the Obomsawin tradition of fine craftsmanship in traditional Western Abenaki ash splint and sweet grass fancy basketry. The talk is presented by the Vermont Humanities Council and hosted by Friends of the New Haven Library.
