Hi dear neighbors, just wanted to share an upcoming "Black Lives Matter" rally that Kit and I will be attending, and we'd love it if you considered going as well. It will be this upcoming Monday, 1/19 (MLK Day!), 6:00 PM, in City Hall/Contois Auditorium.
From the event's Facebook page, written by organizer Vicki Garrison:
"This rally is being held in celebration of Martin Luther King Day and in remembrance of where we have been to emphasize where we are today (in the context of history) and what we need to do in this moment and the tomorrow's to come to accomplish that dream... This rally is also being held to show continued support for Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Darrien Hunt, Eric Garner, etc., to DENOUNCE our racist INjustice system, and to address the static state of racism in this country. This event will be held on Monday, January 19th (MLK Day) IN CONTOIS AUDITORIUM at 6 PM at Burlington City Hall. Be prepared to hear truth spoken by Vermonters of color (not an open mic). This is a peaceful demonstration. This event starts promptly at 6 PM. Press, please respectfully arrive on time and get the story right. #BLACKLIVESMATTER"
