Twinfield Budget Forum Jan. 20

Past event
Jan 20, 2015

There is a Twinfield Budget Forum scheduled for Tuesday, January 20th, 2015 from 6:30-7:30 pm.

With the draft of the budget that is currently being proposed by the Administration, the estimated increase in the local homestead rate for Marshfield is 2.28% and the estimated increase for Plainfield is 6.55%. Note that these numbers are preliminary and are still subject to change.

These increases are also just for the education tax increase and do not include any increase (or decrease) to municipal taxes. These rates were provided to the school board by the WNESU business office as of 01/13/15.

While the proposed Twinfield budget draft includes decreases in some areas, the overall budget is still going up over 100,000. The Administration is proposing cuts to Foreign Language and Art for the coming year and the bottom line for teachers and benefits has actually decreased due to savings generated by retirement and savings in salaries.

Instead of using these savings to provide some relief to Plainfield and Marshfield’s taxpayers, the Administration is proposing to spend the money in other ways. For a copy of the draft budget you can contact the WNESU office at 454-9924.

The budget forums and school board meetings are an opportunity for the public to have input and ask questions about the 2015-16 budget, please feel welcome to attend. This is the first of several upcoming board meetings (all open to the public) that will include budget discussions:
