Country Dance in Hartland Jan 17

Past event
Jan 17, 2015, 7:30 to 10 PM

Come to a country dance at Damon Hall in Hartland this Saturday night, starting at 7:30pm. Adam Boyce is the fiddler/caller, along with Sue Hunt on piano. Primarily "singing style" eastern square dances, popular from the mid 1930's through the 1950's in New England, with other formations, including the Virginia Reel and Portland Fancy. Adam learned to fiddle from the late legendary "Yankee" fiddler, Harold "Chuck" Luce of Chelsea, VT, who was also a fiddler/caller of these dances. Adam does his best to emulate Harold's style and manner of calling and playing. Also includes polkas, foxtrots, and slow waltzes, plus a few other types of couple dancing. All ages and experience levels welcome. All dances taught, as needed. Sponsored by Hartland Community Arts. Admission: $7 single, or $12 couple; children are free, if accompanied by an adult. This is the first in a series of 3 dances to take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month, January through March, at Damon Hall. For more information, contact Adam Boyce by replying to this posting, or call (802) 484-7719.
