The Rutland Meals Challenge is seeking volunteers to help package 40,000 nutritious rice and bean meals which will be distributed to food pantries throughout Rutland County, including the Community Cupboard, BROC and the new Rutland branch of the Vermont Food Bank. This record-setting number of meals could provide one week of dinners for every hungry person in the county. The Rutland Meals Challenge takes place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. The event requires 12 volunteers to run each of the five assembly lines, plus extra volunteers to sort and move product, etc. Volunteers can sign up with a group or individually for a one-hour shift, or for a three-hour shift (morning or afternoon). To register, please visit: http://www.gslcandll.org or call: 802-773-9659.
