North Branch Nature Center's Naturalist Journeys Lecture Series;
The Photo Big Year: A Quest to Photograph North America's Birds
Friday, January 9, 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier
For the past two years, Tyler Pockette has been working as a seasonal field biologist in San Diego, California, studying migrating birds passing through the Yuha Desert. The rest of Tyler’s year is spent back in his home state of Vermont, where he spends most of his time birding for play, not pay. Join him on his final year of working in Southern California as he attempts to photograph as many species of birds as possible in a calendar year. There will be plenty of beautiful photographs and stories of travel, rare birds, and disappointing misses as he makes the 3,000-mile drive four times per year from the far Northeast corner of the country through some of the nation’s most bird diverse territory, to the far Southwest corner, racking up hundreds of bird species along the way.
Suggested donation is $5. To learn more about our lecture series and other programs offered at NBNC visit our website at www.northbranchnaturecenter.org. 802-229-6206.
