Redistricting has resulted in the South End being served by 3 City Councilors, rather than the current 4 City Councilors. With the new districts there will be one City Councilor from Ward 5, and one City Councilor from Ward 6, and a new “District Councilor” that will serve a combined Ward 5/6 district called the “South District." These changes will take effect on our March 3, 2015 Town Meeting Day.
The current Burlington City Councilors from the south end of the city wish to announce that, at the upcoming Democratic caucus to be held on January 11, 2015, Chip Mason will seek the nomination for the Ward 5 seat, Karen Paul will seek the nomination for the Ward 6 seat, and Joan Shannon will seek the nomination for the South District.
The Democratic caucus to select candidates for Mayor and City Council is being held on Sunday, January 11 at the Sustainability Academy, 123 North Street. Doors open at 3:45 pm, and participants must be in the registration line no later than 4:15.
