Budget Meeting Jan. 7

Past event
Jan 7, 2015

Interested in how your property tax dollars are being spent? Want to have input on community spending priorities for next year? If so, plan to attend our joint Selectboard, School Board meeting on Wednesday, January 7 at 7pm at the Westford School. For the last couple months, each Board has been crafting proposed budgets for next year - to be voted on at Town Meeting in March. Yes, we will all vote in March, but your only option at that point will be a simple yes or no to the proposed budgets. Now is the time to make suggestions, call your elected officials on the carpet, compel changes, and actually modify the budget more to your liking. Help us get it right! Come to the meeting.

I know, I know. Meetings can be a pain. We all have busy lives, obligations at home, at work, for family. That said, most folks are pretty concerned about pocket book issues, especially property taxes. Aren't you? Voting at Town Meeting is critical, but it's not where dialogue, debate, and change happen on our spending priorities - not since we changed to day-long Australian-ballot voting on our Town and School budgets several years ago. All of this CAN happen at the January 7 meeting - if you come. Please do!

Interested, but can't come to the meeting? Your Selectboard and School Board are just a phone call or an email away.
